How to Become a Christian

Salvation is as easy as A B C. In fact, it is a free gift! However, it is not something that should be done without serious thought. Receiving salvation and beginning a relationship with God is a life-long commitment. God has provided the path to Him through His Son Jesus Christ. All you have to do is follow this simple outline that consists of God's plan of salvation:

  1. Admit
  2. Believe
  3. Confess

Admit

In order to be saved, we must first admit that we are sinners.

Experts say that the road to recovery is by people first admitting they have a problem. We all have problems and we all need God. The Bible is clear – look at this first verse from Romans:

Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

No one is without fault or sin and once we come to that realization, then we can see the need for a Savior.

Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Believe

In order to be saved, you must believe that Jesus died and rose again to pay the debt for your sin.

John 1:12 – "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."

We must believe in Him. The Bible tells us that Christ came into the world, died on a cross and rose again so that we could have a wonderful and abundant life. However, we must put our faith/trust in Him.

Confess

In order to be saved, you must first confess your sins.

I John 1:9 – "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Here is a simple prayer for you to pray to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior:

Lord, I know that I am a sinner and that my sin separates me from You.
Lord, I am sorry for my sins and ask You to forgive my sins.
I believe that Jesus paid for my sins when He died on the cross,
and I believe He rose again just like the Bible says.
Please come into my heart and be the Lord of my life
and help me to live for You every day.
Lord, Thank You, for saving me, in Jesus' name.
Amen

When we confess our sins (faults) to God, then we have opened up ourselves to Him. There is nothing that you have done that God will not forgive you for. All you have to do is ask Him to forgive you and He will.

If you have prayed faithfully and accepted Jesus as your Savior, then we congratulate you. This is a wonderful day for you and we want to help you to grow in your relationship with God. Here are some important steps you should now take:

  • Get a Bible if you don't already have one, and read it everyday.
  • Pray! Talk to God daily. Develop a personal relationship with Him.
  • Go to a Bible-believing church and fellowship with other Believers.
